Does not work for 1997 S-10 ZR2 Apr 02, 2011
By GR Good quality tool, seemed well-machined and coated.
It would have done the job, but there was no way it would work on my 1997 S-10 with the factory ZR2 suspension. The Lower nub was off the hole by a 1/4" and would pop out of place after any tightening. Flipping the "C" around so it attached from the other side was impossible due to the welded frame member in the way.
This tool isn't made to the J-36202 specification as far as I can tell, but a different one. I would guess it only works on J-42393 spec. trucks which are K35 chassis.
Buy this instead May 05, 2012
By falato gelato Instead of paying way too much for this tool, buy this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002O16UES/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i01 Worked beautifully on my 2000 s series truck.
must have Mar 01, 2012
By RF if you are looking at this tool then you know its a must have. its tha same tool/manufacturer that i used as a GM tech, but i think it only works on GM's c/k (1/2 ton- 1 ton). i believe there is another tool for GM's s/t line(smaller GM trucks/suv's ex.s-10, bravada).read the instructions. use the right lubricant on it. it lasted as a shop tool so if you use it right and take care of it, it should outlast you or you could re-sell it.
otc 7822a gm torsion bar unloading tool Feb 23, 2012
By jim this tool worked on my 2001 silverado 2500 hd pickup just as described however after after removing and reinstalling both sides the threads on the screw have started to streach leaving me to believe that it is a one job throw away tool
Well made tool, perfect for the job Jan 01, 2012
By SB Great tool, just what we needed. Stayed in place perfectly and didn't slip at all. High quality threads stood up perfectly to the high pressure applied while using it. Much safer than using a ball joint tool or c clamp, costs a bit more but this is a case where the right tool makes all the difference.
