OTC HubTamer awesome hub/bearing kit Jan 21, 2010

The OTC Hubtamer wasn't on Motor's top 20 tool list a while back by just chance. That clever tool designer(s) deserves a trophy. This is a serious quality tool with some very unique design features that sets it apart from all other similar competitors in my opinion. The horseshoe bracket for pushing out the hub is a rock solid weldment with a large recessed ball bearing seat for transferring thrust thru the forcing screw with minimal friction. Since it fits behind the hub and extends inboard rather than outboard of the hub...clearance problems are minimized and this makes removing those stupid nightmare trapped rotors (earlier Honda etc.)Quick & EASY. The HubTamer Elite 6537 kit is really NOT much different than the earlier HubTamer 6490. They just upgraded by adding an extra adapter plate for Ford Taurus & Contour and a bevel on the horseshoe bracket. This tool is more universal and complete than most others and less cost even with OTC's LIFETIME WARRANTY. It has tie rod/race and Ford cv axle pullers included. Not surprisingly, because it is OTC it comes with possibly the finest & most detailed instruction manual. If you follow the manual it will tell you exactly what adapters & how to use them safely & properly by make & model for most US, Asian,& European cars in case you can't figure it out on your own. The only close competition is the Hub-Shark system and maybe Sir tools B90, and German like Baum or Klann etc. They all cost more & much more in the case of Klann. To be fair in some rare cases up to 40 tons...yes 40 TONS (80,000 pounds of force!) could be required for rusty seized bearings and then Klann's hydraulic on car kit or hydraulic shop press with rated capacity may be required. Like they advertise...this tool will beat book time by 50% or more and save you bucks not having to get an alignment job. This tool pays for itself 1st bearing job you do. I would never give mine up.

Hub Tamer Elite Oct 04, 2009
By D. Jones OTC makes really good, inovative tools, so I had no fear of the Mfg. The elite is an upgrade from the one purchased in the 1980's- that finally wore out- in the middle of a job. It was never babied, and the new one won't be either, and looking at the quality, I don't think I need to worry about it lasting. A good many inovations have been done to the "new" tool, and many more adaptors are included. I kept all the parts that were useable from my old set, and can tell you that, with imagination, all OTC stuff works pretty well together in a mix and match solution to an odd problem. The purchase went right thru, and the tool arrived actually before it was supposed to (thankfully).
Not all that Master Mar 31, 2012
By REVITHI The product is good for mid-size and smaller cars but not for a Honda Odyssey. I bought this product to remove the hub bearing on a 2007 Honda Odyssey. What a problem. I was unable to remove the hub bearing and had to use a hydralic press. The Honda Odyssey is a large vehicle and this product could not handle the stress or the pressure that is require to remove the hub bearing. I still own the tool, but only use it on smaller vehicle, works better.
